"Do you remember the story about my rich dad, explaining this diagram to me when I was a little boy?"
The class nodded.
"And who remembers the importance of the dates 1943, 1986, and 1215?"
"1215 was the signing of the Magna Carta," a young woman volunteered. "That was the year the rich took the power away from King John of England. From then on, the rich made the rules."
"Very good," I said. "So given the choice, I want to invest from the B side because the business owners have the best rules for investing, simply because they make the rules. Continue."
"America was founded by a tax revolt, which began in 1773, with the Boston Tea Party. America grew rapidly because it was a tax-free nation. In 1943, the law changed and all employees in America had taxes taken from their paychecks. In other words, the government got paid before they got paid."
"You've learned well," I remarked, amazed that anyone would remember my talk on the history of taxes. "Paying taxes was said to be a patriotic duty because World War II was on...but it was the worker in the E quadrant who paid most of the taxes. The people in the S and the B quadrants still had control over how much they paid, and when they paid their taxes."
Continuing, the young lady said, "In 1986, the tax law changed and it negatively affected people primarily in the S quadrant, more specifically the doctors, attorneys, engineers, architects, accountants, and other professional people. It seems that again, the rich had changed the rules to favor their quadrant. The rich make more money but pay less in tax simply because they operate out of the B quadrant," said the young woman.
The B Quadrant Advantage Is in the I Quadrant
"Thanks for paying attention," I said. "I could not have said it better. That is why I build businesses in the B quadrant not the S quadrant. But the main point is that just being in the B quadrant alone is not enough. It does not give you the full power of the B quadrant."
"The B quadrant is not enough?" a participant repeated in a confused tone.
